Identification of local sources of pollution
Remote sensing data enables identification of local sources of pollution which have a significant impact on the environment of the territory. Some of these sources are: oil spill in the areas of production and transportation, the discharge of industrial waste into water, runoff from farms, unauthorized dumping, etc. The main source of information which can be used to identify such environmental problems are multi-spectral satellite images.
Methods: automated and visual interpretation of medium high and ultra-high resolution satellite images, (using optional field, statistical and spatial information).
